As an announcement, for those of you who live in the Greater Salt Lake area (or round-abouts), I will be having my book launch party for THE LOST SAINT on Dec. 28th at 7pm at The King's English Bookshop. I'd love to see you all there!
So for at least the next couple of nights, I've decided to share 2 songs. Maybe we'll make it a weekend thing. We'll see. Also, I was hoping to share the TLS trailer with you all either tonight or tomorrow night, but unfortunately I've been asked to wait by the powers-that-be. I'm dying to post it! I'll keep you updated as I know more about when it will actually go live.
On with the music--
Song 7 is "Trigga Hiccup" by Menomena. This song represents Grace's desire/struggle to gain control of her new wolfy powers. I imagine her running to this song, trying to break through the barrier that's holding her back from embracing all the power coursing inside of her. To me this song just sounds like frustration.
Song 8 is "I think Ur a Contra" by Vampire Weekend (one of my most favorite bands). This song is so darn beautiful, and a little bit heartbreaking. I listened to this song A LOT while writing and revising TLS, and to me it encompasses one of the main emotions of the book--what it feels like when the trust in a relationship is being tested.
Take a listen to them, and let me know what you think for additional entries in the contest... or just because you love them as much as I do :D.
Thanks for stopping by. Come back tomorrow for song 9 and 10.
Awesome! Hopefully I can make it to your launch party, that would be fun! I just did a post on you. I loved watching you at The King's English. I think it was from last year. Anyway, your story really helped me. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love Vampire Weekend!! Can't wait even more to read TLS since its what you listened to while revising!! So excited!!

Loved both songs, but especially Vampire Weekend which is one of my favorite bands! This one is not my favorite at the moment but is still pretty good! And I loved the fact you wrote why you loved them so much! Thanks once again Bree!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could come to the book launch, but that is my daughters birthday. I love the look of your books. They are amazing!
ReplyDeleteSee, I already knew I loved you (I mean, I do owe my agented status partially to you and all--I will never forget that) ;) but OMG now I know you have AWESOME TASTE IN MUSIC!!! Love love love!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy is Utah so far away???? I so wish I could be there for the launch. Please post pictures? *bats eyelashes*
(also sorry for the punctuation abuse. I've been revising all day and it makes me feel the need for ALL CAPS and excessive punctuation a lot) ;)
Woo-hoo! Two songs in one! I LOVE Vampire Weekend, so I'm happy to see them as part of your soundtrack!
ReplyDelete*waits excitedly for next song & possibly book trailer*
Woo-hoo! Two songs in one!
ReplyDeleteBoth are great songs, though Menomena sounds kinda weak compared to Vampire Weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love Vampire Weekend too! Glad they have a song in the playlist! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on coming to your launch. Sad to say, I've never been to the King's English. Tsk tsk.

ReplyDeleteI really like both songs. I haven't heard of either before. Can't wait for TLS!
ReplyDeleteOk, not a fan of the first one but I can see how it represents what you said.
ReplyDeleteThe second song though is very nice. Again, I'm a fan of slow songs.
It'll be great to listen to these after reading or during reading the book to see if I agree with them!
I Tweeted these as well!
I thought the first song was okay. I loved the econd by Vampire Weekend. I'm getting very antsy for the book to come out!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the Menomena song but I love me some Vampire Weekend.
ReplyDeleteI really like both these. I'm getting very anxious for TLS!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna take a wild stab and guess that I can speak for everyone that we're with you in really wanting to see the trailer ASAP!!!
ReplyDeleteMy iTunes playlist is growing by leaps and bounds. These are some great songs.

*clicks heels, squeezes eyes shut in concentration and whispers repeatedly* There's no place like Salt Lake City. There's no place like Salt Lake City. Enjoy the launch!
ReplyDeleteI wish Salt Lake City was closer to me...I'm all the way on the east coast, hanging out with the Atlantic ocean.
ReplyDeleteGreat songs BTW. "Trigga Hiccup" sounds like a really good workout song, so I can see it as a frustration song as well.

awesome Song!
ReplyDeleteVampire Weekend is one of my most favourite bands as well! I love all their music! It's all so good!
ReplyDeleteI am so buying this soundtrack!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing song! I'm a new follower, and love your book!
ReplyDeleteI live in Provo but I'll be home to California for Christmas so I can't come! I'll have to come to another event sometime!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit these two songs aren't my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you listened to the one by Vampire Weekend a lot. It's inspiring... but it keeps me wondering about its role in the novel, yet againn.
ReplyDelete»Sam.
Bummer dude! I don't live in the area. :( Anyway, I honestly didn't like 'I Think Ur A Contra' very much at all, though hearing it made me curious as to how that would give you inspiration for The Lost Saint. As for 'Trigga Hiccup', I loved it! And I realize I am badly behind on posts, but I am determined to catch up. Someday.
ReplyDeleteNice songs. :) I especially like Vampire Weekend. Sad, but kind of soothing too (the video is strangely fascinating...)
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope you have a great launch party! Sadly, I am a Californian without a car. At least I'll have TLS to keep me company. :)
